Introduction :

LA based Artist Meg Jorgenson will lead a two hour interactive class. She will share her process in abstract expressionism through her foraged earth pigments. Using nature as our guide, participants will create their own earth pigment painting with the materials and techniques provided.

Outline:

In this workshop the intention is to explore visual expression through painting with an emphasis on earth pigments. This aspect of my practice centers on reconnecting with ourselves, each other, and the land through material and process.

Key Concepts:

Perception : Response to earth pigments and imagery

Color Theory and Light : Blending and shading techniques

Composition: The way strokes are arranged to create balance or meaning

Play: Fundamental to exploring freeform and abstraction

Materials included: 6 Earth pigment colors, brushes, 15”x 15” stretched canvas
